SPSync

SPSync is a very powerful tool, sitting in the taskbar and works like Dropbox and OneDrive for Business. It automatically sync folders you choose with document libraries in SharePoint 2013 (including Office 365 / SharePoint Online). It provides a full two-way sync mechanism.

What is the difference to OneDrive for Business?

OneDrive for Business sometimes just does not work. Also you cannot sync different folders (e.g. c:\temp, c:\users\bla\documents and so on). Instead, all your libraries are synced to one root folder (e.g. C:\OneDriveForBusiness\. ).

Sharepoint synchronization

What are the requirements to run SPSync?

SPSync requires Windows 7/8/10 running .NET Framework 4.5.2 on the client.

As the sync target you need a SharePoint Online (Office 365) or SharePoint Server 2013 (On-Prem) site with a document library.

How often will SPSync sync my files?

Local changes will be sync’ed after a few seconds automatically. Remote changes will be fetched every 10 minutes.

Are there any special requirements for the document library?

The document library can have versioning enabled (recommended) but must not require documents to be checked-out for editing.

My URL will not be accepted, what should I do?

At first, please try the default “Add sync configuration” dialog. Enter the URL you copied from your browser while you are seeing the document library you want to sync.

The URL should look like one of these:

  • https://my-tenant.sharepoint.com/personal/my_domain_and_user/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx
  • https://myOnPremSharePoint.com/sites/ATeamsite/Documents
  • https://myOnPremSharePoint.com/sites/ATeamsite/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx

Please make sure, that you are in the root folder of your document library when copying the URL.

How to submit a bug report?

First of all, make sure you are on the latest version (right-click on the task tray icon and ‘Info’).
